We are a founding member of RecyPac
We already reported on the letter of intent in August - now the association 'RecyPac - Kreislauf Plastik und Getränkekarton' has been founded. Together with other producers and players in the value chain, we are a member as the Semadeni Group. The Managing Director of our Group sits on the board as a representative of KUNSTSTOFF.swiss - the association of the Swiss plastics industry. We are delighted to be part of this important step towards a circular economy!
This voluntary industry organization will create a far-sighted and sustainable solution for closing the loops of plastic packaging and beverage cartons. The aim of the new organization is to establish a harmonized and sustainable circular economy system for plastic packaging and beverage cartons throughout Switzerland.
The system sets itself high targets in all areas of sustainability (environment, economy, society) by 2030 and reviews these on an ongoing basis using a comprehensive, transparent target system. An efficient recycling system is to be established by 2030 and recycling rates of 55% for plastics and 70% for beverage cartons are to be achieved.
The entire process chain from packaging manufacturers to brand owners, retailers, municipalities and recyclers will be integrated to enable effective and efficient recycling. This means that the establishment of collection should go hand in hand with increasing the recyclability of products so that cycles are closed in their entirety.
The industry solution is supported and co-financed by a broad alliance of stakeholders. Producers, packaging manufacturers, brand owners and retailers are among the founding members. By joining forces to form an industry organization, ecological, economic and social benefits can be achieved: The vision of a circular economy for packaging can be achieved. Resources can be conserved, synergies realized and economies of scale achieved.
