1. Our principles for processing personal data
1.1 How we process personal data
The protection of your privacy and the security of your personal data are an important concern that we take into account in all our business processes. We treat your personal data accordingly at all times pursuant to the relevant statutory provisions.
Our Websites, services, and products are not intended for children under the age of 13. If you believe that we are processing data regarding a child under the age of 13, please notify us immediately.
If we process information about you, we will inform you in advance or as soon as possible about the data processing, its purpose and legal basis (including any legitimate interests involved), any forwarding of data to third parties (including information on the third country concerned), the duration of data storage, our contact details (including representatives and the data protection officer), and your rights with regard to the data processing in question. Furthermore, we will only process your personal data for the purposes for which we collected them from you or for which you subsequently gave us your consent.
1.2 What we do to ensure your personal data remains secure
We do not sell your personal data or disclose them to third parties in any other way, unless you have given us your express consent or we are obliged to do so on the basis of a court or official order. This does not apply to our service providers and contractual partners who support us in operating our Websites and providing our services and products and who are subject to contractual and/or statutory provisions governing the protection of your data.
We take appropriate technical and organizational security precautions to protect your personal data against manipulation, loss, destruction, and unauthorized access. We also take appropriate measures to check the correctness and completeness of the data. Despite these efforts, however, we cannot completely guarantee the security and correctness of your personal data.
1.3 When we delete your personal data
We only process your personal data for as long as we need them for the stated purpose. If we process your personal data on the basis of your consent, we will stop the processing activities in question immediately if you withdraw your consent. Please note that withdrawal of consent only applies from the respective point in time and does not affect earlier data processing. Otherwise, we will delete your personal data after ten years, unless there is still a legal basis for retaining them (e.g. contract processing, accounting, and declaration obligations, etc.) or a specific business interest in continuing to store or process the personal data concerned.
2. When you visit our Websites
On our Websites we inform you about the Semadeni Industry Group and our services and products. On our Websites you can also contact us directly via a contact form or real-time chat, or open a customer account.
2.1 What data we process about you
We process data about your use of our Websites (e.g. IP address, location, browser, operating system, reference source, duration of visit, page views, files downloaded, links selected, search terms, navigation paths, and information about the time, frequency, and pattern of website use). If your visit is the result of online advertising (e.g. banner advertising, search engine advertising, etc.), we also record what led you to visit the website.
We use small text files on our Websites that your web browser stores on your computer (“cookies”). While you use our website, we use “session cookies,” which are deleted when you close your web browser and are primarily used for connection control and navigation. In some cases, however, we also use persistent cookies that enable us to identify you again the next time you visit us.
You can also view our Websites without cookies. You disable the storage of cookies by selecting the option “do not accept cookies” in your web browser settings. You can find out how this works in detail in the instructions for your web browser. If you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use all the functions of our Websites.
This processing of your personal data takes place on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating, offering, monitoring, securing, and continuously improving our Websites, products, and services (including marketing) and, where applicable, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Further information on the individual cookies can be found in our cookie banner, where you can also manage your consent. Please note that withdrawal of consent only applies from the respective point in time and does not affect earlier data processing.
2.2 Use of Google Analytics (with IP anonymization)
Our Websites use Google Analytics (www.google.com/analytics), provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. This allows data, sessions, and interactions across multiple devices to be assigned to a pseudonymous user ID and the activities analyzed. Google Analytics uses cookies for this purpose, which are stored on your computer and enable your use of the Websites to be analyzed. The information in question may be transferred to the USA, e.g. for reasons of technical infrastructure. The IP address transmitted as part of Google Analytics is normally truncated before transmission so it cannot be easily reconstructed, and is not merged with other Google data.
On our behalf, Google uses the information to analyze your use of the Websites, compile reports on Website activities, and provide other services relating to Website and Internet usage. The data will be deleted after 14 months.
Google Ireland Limited is subject to EU law, which provides adequate data protection according to Switzerland. The US company Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework and undertakes to comply with the data protection requirements of the EU and Switzerland. According to the EU and Switzerland, the USA has adequate laws in place to protect personal data in these circumstances. In addition, we have entered into a contract data processing agreement with Google which obliges Google to protect the data of our users and not disclose them to third parties. You can view Google’s privacy policy here.
You can prevent the processing of the data generated by cookies and related to your use of the Website bydownloading a web browser add-on here, thus preventing the collection of data by Google Analytics when you visit a website.
2.3 Use of Google Ads
We use the Google Ads service for marketing purposes to advertise products and solutions from our range in a targeted manner. This includes, in particular, campaigns in the areas of packaging, laboratory supplies, environmental technology, and medical products, targeting specialist customers from industry, healthcare, and research. We use various advertising formats, including:
Search network ads (Google Search)
Display advertising (visual banners on the Google Display Network)
Shopping ads (product ads with image and price directly in Google search)
Remarketing (targeted retrieval of previous Website visitors)
Certain cookies are used for the above advertising formats. These cookies are deleted between 30 days and three months afterwards. You can find more detailed information in our cookie banner.
As part of our advertising measures, we also use Google Ads Customer Match to draw existing customers’ attention to new offers in a targeted manner.
Customer data such as email addresses are transmitted to Google in hashed (pseudonymized) form. Google compares these data with existing Google accounts in order to create Customer Match audiences. This allows us to display personalized advertisements within Google services such as Google Search, YouTube, or Gmail – for example, to re-engage users, communicate offers, or advertise specific products.
Processing will only take place with your express consent via our cookie banner (“Marketing” category). Data may be transmitted to the servers of Google LLC in the USA. This is based on the Data Privacy Framework (DPF). Our legal basis for the use of Google Ads (insofar as this goes beyond the processing of your data mentioned in Section 2.1.) is your consent and, where this not been obtained, our legitimate interests in marketing and improving our services and our online presence. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Please note that withdrawal of consent only applies from the respective point in time and does not affect earlier data processing.
For further information on Google and its products, please refer to the information on Google Analytics above (section 2.2).
2.4 Use of LiveChat
On our Websites we use LiveChat (www.livechat.com) from LiveChat Inc., 1 Int. Place 1400, Boston, MA 02110, USA. This service allows us to have a personal conversation with you in the form of a real-time chat during your visit to the Websites. LiveChat uses cookies and stores information about you, the conversation held, and your use of LiveChat. This information is usually transmitted to a LiveChat server in the USA and stored there. LiveChat uses these data to allow you to chat with us in real time.
LiveChat is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework and undertakes to comply with the data protection requirements of the EU and Switzerland. According to the EU and Switzerland, the USA has adequate laws in place to protect personal data in these circumstances. In addition, we have entered into a contract data processing agreement with LiveChat which obliges LiveChat to protect the data of our users and not disclose them to third parties. You can view LiveChat’s privacy policy here.
You can use the chat button on our Websites to start the real-time chat. For this, we obtain your consent prior to the processing of your personal data by LiveChat and the transmission of all input to the USA. You can request that we send you the data stored by LiveChat from your communication with us and have them deleted.
2.5 Use of HubSpot
We use the services of HubSpot Inc., 25 First Street, Cambridge, MA 02141, USA (https://www.hubspot.com/) on our Websites. HubSpot uses cookies which are stored on your computer and enable your use of the Websites to be analyzed. We have configured the HubSpot services in such a way that as few personal data as possible are processed.
As far as possible, data processing is carried out by HubSpot in the EU. Nevertheless, certain processing processes may allow personal data to enter the USA. HubSpot is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework and undertakes to comply with the data protection requirements of the EU and Switzerland. According to the EU and Switzerland, the USA has adequate laws in place to protect personal data in these circumstances. In addition, we have entered into a contract data processing agreement with HubSpot which obliges HubSpot to protect the data of our users and not disclose them to third parties. 3. If you subscribe to our newsletter
With our newsletters, we inform you up to six times a year about our products, promotions, and special items as well as other news from the Semadeni Industry Group and, where relevant, also send you invitations to trade fairs, events, and other occasions. If you wish, we are also happy to send you our latest ordering catalog by post every year.
3.1 What data we process about you
To subscribe to the newsletter, we need your email address. We ask you to provide your first and last name and address details so we can address the newsletter to you personally, although this is optional. You must provide your address details if you wish to subscribe to our catalog. We also ask you to indicate which areas are of interest to you so we only inform you of the latest news that is actually relevant to you. All subscriptions and any changes (including time of subscription and confirmation and IP address) are logged in order to document the subscription process in accordance with legal requirements.
The newsletters also contain a small file that is retrieved when the newsletter is opened (“web beacon”). As part of this retrieval, technical information (e.g. browser and system type, IP address, and time of retrieval) is collected. This information is used for technical improvement of services and access times and for statistical surveys.
The statistical surveys also include determining whether and when a newsletter is opened and which links are clicked. For technical reasons, this information can be assigned to individual newsletter subscriptions. However, it is not our intention to monitor individual users. The evaluations serve us much more in identifying the reading habits of our users as a whole and to adapt our content to them or to send different content according to the interests of our users.
This processing of your personal data is based on your consent. Electronic subscription for the newsletter or catalog delivery takes place on our Websites using a double opt-in procedure. After subscribing you will receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see Section 3.3 below). Please note that withdrawal of consent only applies from the respective point in time and does not affect earlier data processing.
3.3 Use of HubSpot
Our newsletter is sent via HubSpot. The email addresses of our subscribers and other data mentioned herein are stored on HubSpot’s servers in the EU. HubSpot uses this information to send and evaluate the newsletters on our behalf.
For further information on HubSpot, see section 2.5 above.
3.4 Use of Google Ads Customer Match
As part of our use of Google Ads Customer Match (see section 2.3 above), we compare your contact details with our existing customer data by transmitting the data to Google in encrypted form. This enables us to provide you with better information about our offers.
For further information on our use of Google Ads, see section 2.3 above.
3.5 Unsubscribing to the newsletter or catalog
You can withdraw your consent to receive our newsletter or catalog at any time. This will also withdraw your consent to it being sent via Hubspot and to statistical analysis. Separate withdrawal of consent to it being sent via HubSpot and to statistical analysis is not possible. You will find a link to unsubscribe from the newsletter at the end of each newsletter. Please note that withdrawal of consent only applies from the respective point in time and does not affect earlier data processing.
We will also ask you to confirm your newsletter subscription two years after initially signing up. Unless you renew your confirmation, we will no longer send you any newsletters or carry out any statistical analyses.
4. When you contact us or purchase our services or products
You can purchase some of our products and services directly from our e-shop on our Websites. Alternatively, you can also purchase our services by phone, online form, email, or post. If you provide us with your email address, we will then communicate with you primarily by email.
4.1 What data we process regarding you
If you interact with us on our Websites or in any other way (e.g. by phone, email, contact form, or by participating in competitions or surveys), we use all data transmitted to us, including metadata, to process your inquiry, correspond with you, and for general customer support and marketing purposes. Without your consent, we will only disclose your personal data to third parties if this is necessary to fulfill a legal obligation (with the exception of our data processors).
When placing an order in our e-shop, you must provide your email address, first and last name, address, and telephone number. A password must be provided too when registering with a customer account. You can also register billing and delivery addresses during the ordering process. We need this information if you make use of our services or products in any other way, as well. We process your personal data received as part of entering into a contract only to fulfill contractual and legal obligations, and for customer care, quality assurance, and warranty cases. If you give us your consent during the ordering process, we will also send you our latest catalog every year. Without your express consent, your personal data will also only be passed on for these purposes (e.g. parcel service, shipping company, etc.).
This processing of your personal data takes place on the basis of contract initiation and processing, the fulfillment of legal obligations, or your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Please note that withdrawal of consent only applies from the respective point in time and does not affect earlier data processing. In addition, in the event of disputes, we rely on our legitimate interest in defending or enforcing our rights.
4.2 Use of Hubspot
We use the services of HubSpot to operate our contact form. This includes the management and automation of communication processes as well as the operation of contact forms. For further information on HubSpot, see section 2.5 above.
4.3 Use of credit check services when ordering on account
In order to protect ourselves against payment defaults for orders on account, we carry out a credit check before entering into such purchase or service contracts. This also offers you a degree of protection against fraud and other criminal offenses. As part of the credit check we review all available data and determine whether we can offer an order on account. Your previous orders are also checked. We further check whether the delivery address differs from the billing address and whether it is a new delivery address. We also use external data and transmit your first and last name or company name, address and, if applicable, date of birth to the following credit rating service providers:
Bisnode D&B Schweiz AG, Grossmattstrasse 9, 8902 Urdorf, Switzerland, email: info.ch(at)bisnode.com. For more information on this service provider’s policies, please visit www.bisnode.ch

These credit rating service providers use the aforementioned data to assess your creditworthiness with regard to the order in question on the basis of mathematical and statistical methods and their own databases. We have entered into a contract data processing agreement with these credit rating service providers which obliges them to protect the data of our customers and not disclose them to third parties.
This processing of your personal data takes place on the basis of the initiation and processing of contracts and our legitimate interest in preventing payment defaults and criminal offenses. If you do not agree with the payment methods offered, you can contact us in writing or by email at info(at)semadeni.com. We will then review our decision again.
5. Limitation of warranty and liability
We create our Websites, services, and products with the utmost care. Nevertheless, we cannot guarantee the accuracy and correctness of the content and exclude all liability and warranty in this regard. Furthermore, our Websites also contain links to third-party websites. Once you have clicked on such links we no longer have any influence over the processing of personal data by these third parties and also exclude any liability and warranty in this regard. These data protection principles do not apply to third parties or their Websites.
6. Your rights and our contact information
On request, we will be happy to provide you with information as to whether and which personal data we process regarding you. In addition, under the applicable legal provisions you may request that we transmit them a commonly used machine-readable format, correct, or, if necessary, delete your personal data entirely. You can also object to the future processing of your personal data by us. Where we process personal data about you based on your consent, you can withdraw this consent at any time (please note that withdrawal of consent only applies from the respective point in time and does not affect earlier data processing).
